Alex is a writer, broadcaster, and on-camera host, primarily covering sports. He completed his master’s degree in journalism at Northwestern University in 2022. His master’s thesis was a video project about live-audience radio shows with a focus on Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! At Northwestern, he interviewed NFL players and coaches (at Super Bowl LVI), WNBA players and coaches, and PGA Tour golfers. He is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University (LMU), where he majored in journalism and served as Sports Editor for the Los Angeles Loyolan, LMU’s official student newspaper. He also did play-by-play broadcasting, PA announcing, and studio hosting for both LMU and Northwestern Athletics, including stints with the WCC Network and Big Ten Network. Outside of school, he has served as a contributing writer for WarriorsTalk, an independent Golden State Warriors news and media outlet, for about three years, and served as the primary game recap writer for the Warriors’ 2019-2020 season. He also wrote for The Argonaut, a local news magazine covering the Westside area of Los Angeles. In 2020, he served as the co-host of the sports podcast Good Take. He currently covers the San Jose Sharks at The Hockey Writers, an independent news website covering all things hockey, and recently worked at KREI/KTJJ, a set of sister radio stations in Farmington, Missouri.
Alex is from Oakland, California, and grew up obsessed with all things sports. At the age of three, he attended a San Francisco Giants game and had memorized the Giants’ starting lineup and the jersey number of each player by the time he left the ballpark. Encouraged by his parents to pursue his passion for sports, his love quickly grew into a fascination and one of the most important aspects of his life. He turned into a diehard fan of the Warriors, Giants, 49ers, Sharks, and Cal Golden Bears. As he has gotten older, he has looked to turn his love of sports into a potential career path. Having completed graduate school, he is now pursuing a career in sports media in a variety of capacities. His non-sports hobbies include script writing, listening to oldies music, and learning as many pieces of trivia as he can. He lists getting his plays produced and meeting Paul McCartney as among his current life goals. You can find him on Twitter @AlexHutton35.
